A Political Illustration Addressing Concerns of International Economic Interference
The Walrus Magazine is an iconic Canadian publication committed to addressing issues within the Canadian
political ecosphere and we were tasked with creating an illustration that commented on a current issue being
faced by Canadians.
The challenge was to create an image that creates a metaphoric narative about the subject and the article
without being too literal, and while also depicting the accurate energy for the piece.
We decided to comment on the complex relationship changes that Canada and our southern neighbours are
currently navigating, with a cartoonish caricature with a bullying, mob-like stature.
The headline reads about the questionable future of the country at the time, and the character in the corner
appears to question Canada's leadership by depicting the former Prime Minister in a compromised position.
